Christians can show that they belong to the Kingdom of God by living according to His Word. Through their actions, love, kindness, grace and the fruits of the spirit will shine forth, emanating off of their very being. They live by the commands and principles God placed in the Bible, and their actions speak for their character. This is how christians can show that they belong to the Kingdom of God.
Where there is a prophet,a priest, or a righteous man unto whome God gives oracles, there is the kingdon of God; and where the oracles of God are not, there the kingdom of God is not. As to the actual Kingdom of God this will be set up when Christ comes again to rule and reign upon the earth.

Well, for Christians, the Kingdom of God is in this world but not of this world. As believers, we are part of the kingdom, making the Kingdom in this world. We are not of this world, though, because we belong to God, while much of society and parts of our culture has turned away from Him, even though He made this world (and the entire universe.) I hope that helps, please let me know if it still doesn't make sense.
Sadly, yes, there are some Christians out there who might think that. However, your question is best taken rhetorically to demonstrate that. :-)

True Christians prove their devotion to God by obeying God in the spirit.
The most common pitfall that Christians of today come across is technology. The world and science has answered so many questions that were once believed to only be known to God that many Christian's faith has become shaken.
