How did the Native American view of Nature differ from the European?

Europeans were all about it and wanted to colonize the the lands they "discovered." The Natives hated it; it was the land they were one first, not to mention it was all an open expanse of forest and plains. The Europeans ruined that for the Natives.

How did Europeans view Powhatan Indians?

The English settlers and explorers seem to have viewed the Powhatan natives as innocent, simple people. Captain John Smith wrote a book entitled "The Generall Historie of Virginia, New-England, and the Summer Isles" which frankly describes the natives as "backward, barbaric and dangerous". This effectively set the tone for all dealings with North American natives from that time onwards.

What did Europeans tend to think about Native Americans?

I cannot speak for all "Natives" but a general view is that Europeans, now Americans, are a hypocritical society with a culture and religion that follows suit. Meaning they say one thing and do another. This culture and its people cannot be trusted as no promise they have given was fulfilled. In a view based upon a religious context, they are the ones that are not human, but only pretend to be (Natives are seen, generally, as human).

Compare and contrast themes of Heart of darkness and things fall apart?

Heart of Darkness explored the exploitation of Africa from a pure European perspective. It doesn't describe the culture of the africans nor giving them any human qualities. They are seen as part of nature and therefore disregarded. Achebe challenged this European view of depicting a lack of culture by writing Things Fall Apart full with folktales, Igbo sayings and giving the Africans a face while still staying impartial towards the Europeans. In doing so he responded to Heart of Darkness by completely tearing apart the description that Joseph Conrad had given of Africa.
