Well typically Hindus will be fast from meat ,fish ,eggs and sex for a period of 2 weeks before Divali .Then on the day of Divali most Hindui's will either go to Temple or stay and home a Pray and make offerings to god .Most Hindui's will invite friends and family over to eat at their home and also give charity .That is how i do it and i live in Trinidad in the Caribbean.

Diwali is equivalent to Christmas in the Hindu tradition. It is the most awaited festival in the whole year. On this day houses are lighted with earth lamps. Sweets are distributed, firecrackers are busted. It is a wonderful sight when the sky is lit with colourful crackers.
