How to remove the interior door handle assembly/mechanism on a 1992 Toyota Pickup (Same for my 1990 Toyota Pickup - common on several model Toyotas):

1) Remove the single Phillips screw holding the interior door handle assembly/mechanism to the door frame .

2) Facing the interior door, gently grasp and press on the door handle assembly/mechanism and slide it about 1/2 inch toward the front of the car (like sliding a deck of cards), releasing it from the offset slide "dogs" holding it in place.

3) To further remove the assembly from the actuating rod, pull the detached door handle assembly toward the front of the car and grasp the actuating rod with a pair of pliers (or locking grip pliers) to hold it in place.

4) The actuating rod is held in place to the assembly with a small green friction clip (a "snap" fit). First gently slide the friction clip back toward you to release it from holding the actuating rod in place. Then the tip of the actuating rod can be lifted from its place in the assembly.

5) Before re-asssembly in reverse order, use a little lithium grease or vaseline on the parts to assure no breakage and future servicability.
