You can add water to a radiator any time it is low on water.
You need to add coolant to your radiator or resivoir. You should add a mixture of ant-freeze and water, but if you need to, you can just add water. Under the hood there should be a plastic "container" that you add the coolant to. If this is completely empty, fill it to the "full" level (it should be marked) and then remove the radiator cap and check the level there as well. If the radiator is low top it off. NOTE: make sure the engine is cool before you remove the radiator cap. If you are not sure let it sit 2-3 hours before you remove the cap.
At the gas station, lift the hood, protect your hand with a cloth. and open the radiator cap. Look inside and add water is the level is low. Check your oil level at the same time. Don't worry, if you add a little too much water, it'll squeeze out past the cap and drop to the road.
Thermostat, water pump, radiator cap, headgasket, low coolant.
Low coolant? Cooling fan not working? Radiator restricted or plugged? Water pump not circulating coolant? Defective radiator cap? Low coolant? Cooling fan not working? Radiator restricted or plugged? Water pump not circulating coolant? Defective radiator cap?
Low on coolant and/or a faulty radiator cap.
Most likely it ld be a lose of water/ coolant. When the engine cools down, remove the radiator cap and see if it is low. If so,add until full. Then add coolant to the overflow tank. A cooling system, radiator, can get low and the recovery tank can be full. If you find it low then you will need to have the system pressure tested.
Bad thermostat? Radiator clogged? System "airbound" water pump not working? Low coolant level? Bad radiator cap?
Air trapped in the heater core. Possible causes, low on coolant or bad radiator cap.
Well you dont want to add water you want to add a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze. First fill the radiator to the top with this mixture then with the radiator cap off the radiator start the engine and let it warm up (do not rev the engine) as the engine warms up the level of radiator fluid will get lower keep on adding until it is at the top and you can see the fluid flowing. Put the radiator cap back on and fill up the coolant reservoir with fluid then go take it for a 10 minute drive. Bring the vehicle back let the engine sit until it is cold. check the level of the reservoir if it is low add until full and then you are finished!!
