Becoming a Psychiatrist is a long difficult process, requiring at minimum 10-12 years of schooling. The ideal situation would be to start planning in high school, focusing on taking science classes. While in college major in pre-med or a science degree related to the body, once you graduate goes to med school. After you are done with med school, you would start a 4 year psychiatrist residency. Upon completion, you would be an official psychiatrist.
