Permanent marker can be easily removed from leather surfaces using distilled white vinegar. Let the vinegar sit on the stain for a few minutes to ensure that it penetrates. Then wipe off the stain with a damp cloth and circular motions.

Take a look at the book the Queen of Clean, I know something is in that book, I would try some vaseline, or baby oil, or murphys oil soap, or dove soap, don't try to scrape it off you will ruin the leather, if you cannot get it off, my guess would be to get another sharpie marker in a lighter color, then go over it with a marker the color of your leather couch

Use a Mr. Clean magic eraser to remove permanent marker stains from leather or wood. Just lightly dampen the eraser and rub in a circular motion over the stain. You may need to use some elbow grease.

Step2Remove a permanent marker stain on the carpet using rubbing alcohol or an oil-free hairspray. Pour it on a white cloth and firmly dab the stain. Repeat as necessary, then rinse with water then allow it to dry.

Step3Rub nail polish remover on stains that are located on plastic. Use a towel and pour the nail polish remover on it. Rub firmly on the stain, then rinse with a wet cloth.

Step4Scrub wooden tables with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Use a white toothpaste and scrub the stain in a circular motion. Leave it sitting for about 5 minutes, then rinse off with a wet cloth and allow the wood to dry.

Step5Scour white hard surfaces with a bleach and water solution. Premix 1 part bleach to 2 parts water in a spray bottle and spray it on the stain. Allow to sit for 10 minutes, then wipe clean with a damp cloth.

If that doesn't work...

TRY.... Coppertone continuous spray which I found one lady used it on her leather couch, she said, "got it off 100% thank goodness since it was not my house he did it at. It really really works. "

or try something with Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol)in it. It is in the bug sprays, and other products mentioned.some one used it on a Baseball and she said, " As a test, I used OFF bug spray on one ball and Isopropyl Alcohol (70%) on the other. The alcohol did a better job in the end, so I hit the bug sprayed ball with it to clean up the residue left behind."

How do you remove sharpie stains from leather?

Do not use bleach or oxyclean as they will weaken your leather permanently, might even destroy it. (ever splash a little bleach on clothing and find a hole a few washings later?). Oil will add another serious problem and not fix a thing. Sharpie is a big challenge, even for the professionals because usually it soaks deeply into the leather. There is no way to remove it from the deeper layers because the chemicals with that power will harm the leather. Leather is a porous, dense mat of fibers. Inks soak in fast, then slowly spread in every direction..forever. This means that even if you get the surface clean, or cover with an opaque color coating, if there's any ink deeper, it will show up again and cover a larger area, but lighter. If you have unprotected leather, with a matte or dull look and a buttery feel, or if the area was worn or cracked, exposing the leather itself to the ink, DO NOT try to remove it. IF the leather has an opaque semigloss protective coating, like a paint - which most leather furniture does - and IF the Sharpie mark is VERY fresh and you are very quick, then you can VERY gently blot just the mark (use a q-tip) with rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol. BLOT, do not rub. Alcohol dissolves sharpie ink, but is also a solvent for the leather color and can strip it bare - so be quick and gentle. You will remove some of the clear top coating and maybe the color layer, too, if the clear part has worn off. So, IF you're careful, you may be able to remove a very light mark, or lighten it to be less obvious. If this doesn't work, you can try recoloring (DIY or call a professional) If the leather's a darker color, the ink may not bleed through enough to notice. The other option is to replace the entire affected section of leather. If you have bonded or bi-cast leather, don't even try - these are plastic, not leather.
