Shelters are placed where abused victims can stay until they can find somewhere else to go. A shelter will simply make sure that you have all the basic things that you need. You will be warm, fed and clean. In some shelters they also offer counseling, although this varies.
Please seek help through your local shelters. Unfortunately, they do not have many batterred men shelters as they do women shelters. Find a job this will help you get a place to live. No one deserves to be abused.
go to the council and they will sort out a short term hostal and move you into a long term home when they find somewhere.

The Abused Women's Center would NEVER turn you and your children away from (you are going to the wrong shelter) until they got to the bottom of your problem. I volunteer in British Columbia for an Abused Women's Center so I know. If they are not convinced about what you are saying they would NEVER endanger the welfare of the children. Legitimate Abused Women's Centers will often work with the police and stay within the accordance of the law. If you give me your City or Town and State I can find out more information for you. Marcy * Generally the definition of proof means that a report has been made to the police. The reason for this is to assure the safety of the alledgedly abused person(s) removal from a potentially dangerous environment. Contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 for assistance from trained counselors to find a shelter and legal aid. The hotline is accessible 24/7 from all 50 states, with translators available if needed. In the US you must use the national hotline or a local domestic abuse number to locate a shelter. You will not be given an address for a crisis shelter until you are screened and shelters are not listed in phone directories or other public areas for obvious reasons. If you are in immediate danger call your local police department or 911 for assistance. * Please refer to the above number for assistance in how to handle the situation. The same question has been posed in several different ways therefore the various forms will be merge. Although the above poster is correct, it sounds like your plight is an emergency and you can't risk wading through red tape. PLEASE go to the "Abused Women's Center" and they WILL provide you with legal counsel while they are keeping you and your children safe.
Every woman is different and some women are terrified of the mate she is with and because the physical abuser is a master of taking the woman's self confidence away and having her believe she is useless in every aspect of her life or perhaps threatens her into believing he will take her life if she leaves him she feels trapped and does not know where to turn. Women of abuse who are afraid are not under privileged women; uneducated or weak and some women that are abused are high profile women in the public's eye or very well educated women so the myth that uneducated or poverty stricken women are the individuals that are more likely to be abused is a myth. Some women will continue to stay with their abusive partner while others will seek help to get away from him. There are other women that will fight back as best they can, but since a man is more powerful this often leads to dire straits for the woman and is risky business. There are Abused Women's Programs that victims of abuse can go too and they should plan well before going to see the counselor at an Abused Women's Facility because they cannot go back to their abuser or they will be in worse trouble. The Abused Women's Facilities protect the women and any children they may have; they will take them to a 'safe house' for protection; have the woman go to programs to learn about abusive men and how to cope on her own; they provide legal counsel in court and help find the abused individual a job. One only has to call Mental Health in their area and they will direct them to an Abused Women's Facility.
The woman should find a man who DOES want children.
