I would suggest starting by being completely honest yourself. Find a good time to talk or ask her to suggest a good time to have a discussion. Tell her calmly and kindly your point of view then ask her what she thinks about the situation. At this point you need to sit quietly and listen to her opinion. If she sees that you are going to really listen to her she may be more thoughtful and honest with you. I think often times wives stop being open because they feel they aren't being listened to, so what's the point. Or they may start saying things they don't really mean just out of anger and frustration because what they think doesn't seem to be important.

I'm not promising this to be 100% effective, but she needs to be honest with you and herself about this. You should get into a serious talk with her and explain that she needs to be honest so that you don't get very hurt, and she needs to be clear so your time isn't being wasted. If she won't tell you, or lies to you, that's on her
