How do I locate and replace the crankshaft sensor on a 1996 Olds Ciera V6 3.1L?
Remove the belt.Take out the 3 bolts holding in the power steering pump and lay it aside. The sensor is right there being held in by one bolt.Remove the bolt and pull the sensor out.Becarefull not to twist or angle it as it comes out if its a bit tight.Trust me,you don't want this to break off and the piece fall off in the block.Replace the sensor and remount the steering pump and the belt and you should be good to go!The code in the PCM should reset itself after about 100 miles or so.
i have a 90 cutlass ciera with a v6 3300 and just replased that. it is called a combanation sensor. its the crankshaft and cam together located at the back of the harmonic balancer attached to the block. it has 2 bolts on the right side holding it to the block a one in the middle to hold the sensor in place and the sensor sits in it and faces the harmonic balancer on the…
What sensors are needed to be changed out from 95 ciera model three one L v6 engine to match back the original 95 supreme three one L v6 engine so the original engine harness fits the ciera engine?
Behind the harmonic balancer. You will need to remove the right front tire, remove the access panel to the engine (through the wheel well), remove engine belt, remove harmonic balancer & pulley with a puller. Remove & replace crank sensor, align sensor with an alignment tool, replace balancer with an installer tool.. BE VERY careful with the balancer, the backside of it has a hall effect style blades. bending these blades will junk the balancer.
remove serpentine belt, turn crank with ratchet to align an open space on sensor which is behind harmonic balancer, disconnect plug on sensor, remove the 2, 13mm bolts and slip it out. put new one in by looking straight down behind harmonic balancer and see that the bands slip through the magnetic sensors without touching, tighten small 8mm screw which sets it in place, around 30 lbs. torque.
94 Oldsmobile cutlass ciera starts with a high idle and then stalls before you can get it out of gear any ideas?
Why would a 1991 olds cutlass ciera not start after engine gets hot until the engine has cooled off a bit?
The throttle position sensor (TPS) on the 1993 General Motors/Oldsmobile Ciera with the 3.3L V6 is located as part of the throttle body assembly. The removal and reinstall of the TPS is simple between disconnecting and cleaning the wiring harness, and removing the two restraining screws on the bad unit. The OEM AC Delco TPS for this application is part #213915.
Your car is a 1994 olds cutlass ciera automatic The car wont shift to second gear and you force the car and the check engine comes on and then the car runs fine?
This just happened to my '94 Ciera. A wire to the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) had been cut. Repair of the wire corrected the problem. The sensor is located on the transmission extension on the passenger side. Can be seen from underhood but better serviced by removing the passenger side tire and working through the wheel well opening. If your wiring is good, suspect the sensor. $40 part.
