"Ok, some other time then,". If you're sure it's a lame excuse, DON'T call back and ask for a second date (presuming that the cancellation was for a first date). Wait for the other person to call back, and if he/she doesn't, look elsewhere.
I cannot stress enough the need to NOT call back. Even if the excuse is legitimate, the other person should have the courtesy to set up a second (first?) date.
