You need to find out why you have low oil pressure. Check the oil level first thing. If the oil level is ok, then check the oil pressure sending unit for a leak. You probably should just go ahead and replace it. If the oil pressure sending unit is ok, then have an oil pressure test run on the engine to see for sure if the oil pump is weak and needs replacing.
Good advice
Using 5W-30 oil in summer, my Catera's low oil pressure warning and light will come on when the engine is hot. But with 10W-40 oil this condition will not occur. Oil pressure gauge may indicate low pressure, but not enough to trigger the warning or the light.
No.No.
Low oil, low oil pressure, failed oil pressure sensor.Low oil, low oil pressure, failed oil pressure sensor.
There is no reset for the oil pressure light. If you have sufficient oil pressure it is off, if you have low oil pressure it is on. If it is on, STOP driving the car until you find out why it is on.
Then stop the engine and have it inspected by a professional.
Do not run the engine until you have checked oil level, sounds like you are very low on oil.
Immediately Stop! Find out why you have no oil pressure. Low of oil, defective oil pump, defective oil pressure sending unit, etc.
Oil pressure is low, oil pressure sensor has failedOil pressure is low, oil pressure sensor has failed
Low oil level? Oil may "slosh" forward on hard stop causing a temporary drop in oil pressure
Low oil pressure or failed oil pressure switch.Low oil pressure or failed oil pressure switch.
u need to replace oil pump
It means you have low oil pressure. Low oil pressure means you will destroy the engine if you keep running it with low pressure.
