If you truly want to 'save yourself for marriage', you are to be commended for your strength and courage. It's not easy to do what's morally right in this world.
If your boyfriend does 'ditch you' for your refusal to have sex, he's not worthy of you....and he's not 'the one'. No true friend, who truly loved YOU, would force you to do something you did not want to do....especially something that effects YOUR body and YOUR LIFE to this extent.
Today, sex is viewed as entertainment ; A 'normal' part of the dating scene, but it's far more than that. Each time you engage in sexual relations with someone, you lose a piece of yourself. Your individuality, your self respect. Saving yourself for a mature, loving and stable mate, shows self control, maturity and love for that future person....giving him something that no one else has been privileged to have.
Looking at it from a Christian perspective, sex is a gift from God, to married people, to bring joy to the marriage...and of course, children.
Sex OUTSIDE of marriage is condemned in The Bible because it goes against God's purpose and will ( 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to 'FLEE from fornication' (which is sex without marriage ). The natural results of going against any of God's commands, is pain....(if we break God's natural law on gravity, we all know the consequences).
Sex outside of marriage causes emotional upheavals, broken hearts, insecurities, intimacies with people who DON'T DESERVE YOU, diseases of all sorts and unwanted pregnancies, leading to even MORE heartbreak.....
Speaking to early Christians, who came out of the immoral world around them (Colossians 3:5-10) says to: Deaden,therefore, YOUR body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of those things the wrath of God is coming. ...But now really put them all away from YOU, wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of YOUR mouth. Do not be lying to one another. Strip off the old personality with its practices, and clothe yourselves with the new [personality], which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it."
Especially as a young person, you need to concentrate on the more important things right now. Finding out who YOU are, what YOU want in life. Getting involved in sexual relationships at a young age can change your life in ways that you can't even imagine.
Spend your time finding TRUE meaning in life and TRUE friends who respect you.
If you can, study the Bible and learn from our human 'handbook' how to find happiness in this seriously self-centered, selfish world. The answers are all in there.

You just DO it. Just tell him. If he reacts badly, move on. It's not worth it.
