A Lark's Head knot is a term used by some, such as the Boy Scouts, to describe a hitch that goes around an object, and more often called a Cow Hitch, and also referred to as a Bale Sling. This is made my forming a single hitch, followed by a second single hitch in the opposite direction. This then present the working end and the standing part together side-by-side.
If the item to be secured has a free end, this hitch can be made very quickly by forming a small loop in the line, pull it ack toward the two ends (standing and working), and sliding the object between the 2 loops formed, and pulling tight.

This is a personal opinion question but the double windsor knot is the most popular knot for ties in the US and is also to most the most fashionable tie knot in the US as well. http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-tie-a-tie-in-a-double-windsor-knot-144760/
Yes it is possible to tie your legs into a knot. Also its possible to get tied into a knot with someone else's legs.
The question cannot be answered, as there are many things it cannot be used for but it may be the first step in making a knot for things it should be used for. The Lark's Head knot, referred to as such by the Boy Scouts, is more often called by sailors and others as a Bale Hitch or Cow Hitch. The Lark's Head is usually made in the bight (the middle of a line when neither end is available to tie a knot) and consists of 2 Half Hitches made in 2 directions against each other. The Lark's Head can be made in a second with one hand and is an easy way to secure anything where the loops may be slid over a post or rail. The Lark's Head can be used as the first step in making other knots as well, such as a Slip Knot. Because the Lark's Head can be made in a second using just 2 fingers, it is popular when it can be used.
There is no information listed on the processes a person can use on their tie. It is stated that there are four ways to tie a tie. Some of the ways are four in hand knot, half Windsor knot, and the traditional Windsor knot.
Tying a knot is not difficult and is often done by accident, so a monkey can definitely tie a knot. However, it is highly unlikely that a useful knot will result.
You can leave it untied, but it will damage it over time as well.
