How do Muslims celebrate Prophet Muhammads birthday?

There is an elaborate naming ceremony. A little bit of the baby's hair is cut which symbolises the shaving of the baby's hair in earlier time. Prayers and blessings are said by family and guests. It is customary to pass sugar and dates around after prayers are said. This is to ensure a sweet future for the child.

After the ceremony, there is a feast. Proper etiquette says that Muslims should bring food to any celebration, even if they are not specifically asked to. This rule does not usually extend to non-Muslim people who attend.

well.. Muslims aren't supposed to celebrate birthdays... but some Muslims do celebrate birthdays... but most Muslim families celebrate birthdays by just having a few friends over and maybe cutting a cake.. they would do this if the child is very small and request haveing a birthday party.. as Muslim children got older.. the interest of birthdayS disappear.. i am 15 and i haven't had one birthday party...

Strictly speaking, the celebration of birthdays is not really encouraged in Islam. Not sure why, but as it is not encouraged in the religion itself, there is no way Muslims ("islam people" lol) celebrate it specifically, other than the way any other average family would.
