Well Ralph is more of a caring person and focuses on getting rescued and is nicer to the littluns and tells them there is no beastie. Jack is more wild and focused on hunting and tells the littluns that if there is a beastie we will hunt it down and kill it so that gives the littluns fear of there still being a beast, and that's not what they need in such a time of loneliness.
Ralph speaks to the littluns in a kind and reassuring manner, encouraging them to be brave and cooperative. Jack, on the other hand, tends to be more authoritative and intimidating, using fear to control them. This reflects their contrasting leadership styles and priorities in the novel.
Both Jack and Ralph are natural leaders. They are also boys who like to act on their decision as soon as they are made. However the reactions of the two boys to various incidents and people differs markedly. When various littluns mention the snake-thing or beastie, Ralph is willing to listen and to try and convince them that there is no such thing. Jack simply calls the littluns cry babies and tells them that it would serve them right if the beast got them. When the biguns go in search of the beast Ralph leaves Piggy behind to look after the littluns.

Jack blows the conch for the assembly to talk about the beast and that Ralph thinks that Jack's hunters are cowards and can't face the beast.
In chapter 11 of "Lord of the Flies," Ralph tries to talk to Jack's tribe about the signal fire and the need for proper shelter. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining a smoke signal to attract potential rescuers and the necessity of protecting themselves from the elements by building secure shelters.

There was no real conflict in chapter one; The Sound of the Shell. Ralph and Jack were both contenders to be chief but the issue was settle by a vote, which Ralph won. The only other slight conflict was when Ralph chose Jack and Simon to accompany him on the expedition to climb the mountain. Piggy wanted to go to and Jack told him in no uncertain terms that he wasn't wanted.
Ralph dresses like a hunter with a spear, war paint, and no shirt when he goes to talk to Jack in Lord of the Flies chapter 11. He adopts this appearance to intimidate Jack and assert his authority in their confrontation.
