I am not sure HOW they shed there skin but im pretty sure its natural. If there are getting tired of shedding they'll probably start rubbing what part of there body is shedding on a rock/ a hard substance.
My baby green anole does the same thing, it could either be stress, hunger, or it could be cold, whenever mine is brown it is usually cold, so i just let it sit on my finger and it turns bright green again, then i offer it food (tiny fruit flies from my backyard) to see if its hungry, after that its usually fine untill it gets cold or hungry again.
When an animal is gaining or loosing weight they will shed their skin, this happens as they grow. As skin cells die, new ones replace the old, just as they do in humans. In reptiles, they shed their whole body at once, rather than flakes at a time.
like all lizards, they shed to remove dead skin, they shed because they are getting bigger, they shed because they are lizards
to get rid of dry skin like our skin scratches off also so they can grow new skin so don't worry
