Not in the UK. Due to rationing the only fruit available was that grown in Britain e.g. apples, pears, and strawberries. Bananas, oranges, peaches and other imported fruit were not available.
There are far more banana's in the world than there are people (6,707,111,800). 2,100 tonnes of banana's are sold & consumed daily in Britain 72.5 million metric tonnes of bananas are produced worldwide yearly. Take into account that a single bananas weighs hardly anything... that's a hell of alot of bananas!!
