Birds as pets;

Generally a bird is a one owner pet. Even if there are other people in a home a bird will generally favor one person. With this in mind a bird also claims this person for themselves. This is actually funny to watch, and a bird will get jealous if an owner pays attention to other people, other birds or even other pets.

My wife has a Blue Crowned Conure and if our cat gets near he literally goes after him tochasehim away. They get jealous because as one owner pets they claim a person or owner or other pet as theirs, and they protect their "territory".

If you have a bird and it is jealous or unfriendly to you it is not because they do not like you, maybe you also need to get a bird of your own. If you spendallotof time with the new bird and it claims you they only move onanthersterritory for food.
