Buffalo eat just like cattle do: they wrap their tongues around a tuft of grass, pull it in, and keep pulling using the lower incisors to help tear the grass from its "stems." They keep doing this until they get a mouthful of grass. They chew it for a little, then swallow, and continue as mentioned above. This is called "grazing." When their stomachs are full, they find a quiet place to stand around or lay in (like a mud-hole), and regurgitate the partly-digested grass from their rumen and rechew it as cud.
