I have a cat who is constantly coming in with burrs in his fur. He leaves burrs in my bed, on the carpet, anywhere he spends time.
As he moves through weeds outside, the burrs, which have tiny hooks (like Velcro) get caught in his fur. As he continues moving - hunting, scratching, fighting - those burrs get redistributed along with his fur. Some find fertile soil while others end up in my laundry! *ouch*
Burrs, which are seeds with rough hulls that have projecting spikes or hooks, use the projections to "latch onto" passing animals or people. The seeds then "hitch a ride" on these passers by to relocate (disperse).
Seeds of all cultivated plants are dispersed by mammals including human being. Seeds of edible fruits are also dispersed by wild animals, like monkeys and squirrels.
The seeds of an angiosperm are more likely to be dispersed by animals.
In nature the fruit falls to the ground when ripe and are eaten by grazing animals then the seed passes through the animal in it's dung.
Apples from the apple tree fall down. Then animals eat them up. Then the animals excrete(poo) the seeds out. Then if the seed landed in the right place a new apple tree will grow!!!
because 1.for avoiding over crowding 2.to eliminate in competitons 3.so that seeds can grow in other places that need plants 4.for the continuation of plants and species life
They get dispersed by animals.
