The pedals are connected to a circular component. That is connected to a bike chain, which is finally connected to the wheels. When you turn the pedals, the circular component turns, which spins the chain, and ultimately spinning the wheel. Think of a conveyer belt. You know how when the circles turn it makes the flat surface turn? That is basically how the pedal/chain/wheel thing works. Hope it helped
