Cavities occur as a result of tooth decay. Tooth decay occurs when foods containing carbohydrates (sugars and starches), such as breads, cereals, milk, soda, fruits, cakes or candy are left on the teeth. Bacteria that live in the mouth digest these food, turning them into acids. The bacteria, acid, foo debris and saliva combine to form plaque, which clings to the teeth. The acids in the plaque dissolve the enamel surface of the teeth, creating holes in the teeth called cavities, or caries.
its actually pretty simple:
cavities are caused by bits of food left in your teeth over night. the food form plaque, which turns into acids that drill a hole to your teeth. basically, the best way to avoid it is to floss and brush your teeth after each meal, and especially before you go to bed.
hope this helped! ;)
These little holes in your teeth are bad news. You get them when a sticky bacteria, called plaque, builds up on your teeth, slowly destroying the hard outer shell, called enamel. Adults can also have problems with tooth decay at the gum line and around the edges of earlier fillings. To prevent it, brush your teeth at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, limit snacks, floss daily
Tooth decay is a disease process where the calcified tissues of a tooth are damaged by the acidic byproducts created by bacteria that live in dental plaque when they consume dietary sugars.
By something happening to the tooth. Hope it helped :)
Cavities are caused by the build up of plaque on your teeth. The plaque causes your teeth to decay which in turn blackens the tooth and causes pain in it.
