We depend on forests and trees a tremendous amount. without trees, there would be no oxygen (long story cut short).

trees 'breathe in' carbon dioxide and recycle it in to Oxygen.

An area the size of 5 American football fields are being cleared in the Amazon rainforest every day, yep that's right, EVERY DAY!

On of the effects of deforestation (the cutting down of forests/woodland areas) is global warming. as there is not as much trees to absorb the carbon dioxide, the earth is warming up, meaning the ice caps are melting, resulting in rising sea levels which causes flooding.

if there was large areas of forest nowerdays like there was in say 1850, then global warming would pretty much not be half of the problem as it is today.
