Christians believe that Jesus is the only son of the true God. He came to Earth as human and sacraficed himself on the cross to save mankind from eternal damnation. Also believed, The Bible is the inspired word of God. As human sinners our only salvation is through Jesus Christ. He tells us in the New Testament that no man goes to the Father but through Him. Only a belief in Jesus will we be able to enter the gates of Heaven. I think of Him as our mediator. He 'represents' us to the Father.
