The assertion that on one hand we have science and the other hand we have the belief in Genesis, as if the two are incompatible is a total fallacy. Genesis belief is not anti-scientific, nor does it reject genuine scientific inquiry. It merely starts from a different paradigm and so gets different results.
So, in returning to the question, many Christians also do not believe in the Big Bang, along with a growing number of non or even anti- Christian evolutionary scientists.
Many Christians having been educated that the Big Bang is fact have never seen the scientific evidence which is accumulating against it. Nor have they ever seen any Creationist physics. They thus accept the Big Bang because they believe they have no other choice as not to except it makes them look sub-human or anti-intellectual. Well Christ preached about having and open mind and seeking out the truth. So, if someone claimed to be a Christian that didn't believe in the Big Bang, the would be a hypocrite (hypocrisy of course being sinful). Too many Christians get worked up by the debate of young earth creationist Vs. Old earth creationism that they forgot what is the most important thing about our Christian faith. Which is the gospel of Jesus is the Christ, and that he is our Lord and savior. In other words, they build their faith on their belief that the earth is 6000 years old or billions of years old, instead of building their faith on Jesus Christ.
But if you must know if Christian believe the Big Bang theory, then the answer is that a lot of Christians think the Big Bang theory is a valid, scientifically proven model that has a lot of Christian implications, because the model predicts that the universe had a beginning.
As for Christians saying that the Big Bang theory is based on Naturalist philosophy, they are wrong! The Big Bang theory actually has a Catholic/Christian root because it was proposed by a catholic priest Monsignor Georges Lemaitre. In the past, many atheist scientists have been trying to prove that the Big Bang is wrong because they don't like the implication that the theory predicts the universe had a beginning (therefore, pointing towards a supernatural creator who started the big bang).
Hindu scripture describes a universe (or at least a cycle of the universe) billions of years old, which is certainly not inconsistent with Big Bang cosmology. Many Hindus therefore tend to accept the Big Bang model as more or less accurate.
Most Christians who have studied the issue agree with the Jesuit priest Georges LeMaitre, the person who first proposed Big Bang Cosmology -- that it explains the observable facts of our Universe better than any alternate hypothesis.
BTW, Big Bang Cosmology has nothing whatsoever to do with biological evolution, so I'm not sure why you're conflating the two.
Most Christians today respond the same way the first person to suggest Big Bang Cosmology -- Jesuit priest Georges LeMaitre -- did so: this cosmology (his words were "Cosmic Egg") is the only one that explains what we observe in our Universe. This question is on par with, "How do Christians respond to the idea that our Earth goes around our Sun?"
Many Christians believe that the universe began around 13.7 billion years ago, in what is often termed the Big Bang, consistent with what many regard as overwhelming scientific evidence. Other Christians believe that the universe is only thousands of years old, as stated in Genesis.
It depends, because some might say 'scientists'. But not all scientists believe in this theory. Also, there are those who believe in a similar idea to the Big Bang, but it is not refered to as 'The Big Band Theory.'
The Big Bang Theory is a widly accepted theory in the scientific world because of the fact that it has less loopholes than others made to oppose it.I believe 1-2 loopholes are contained in The Big Bang Theory.
Hello i am minakshi answer is that the big bang theory is an example of old scientific theory as big bang theory explains that there was an explosion but the isotropy and the homogenity of the universe is not explained by big bang theory to explain his we connect inflatation theory with big bang theory to explain it so the big bang theory is also an example of old scientific theory.
The Big Bang Theory, or God. Whichever you believe, it is personal opinion.
The duration of The Big Bang Theory is -1320.0 seconds.
Yes.
sikhs do believe in the big bang theory. it was written in the guru granth sahib ji before scientists found out.
no

Implying that you believe in The Big Bang Theory then yes our "World" aka Earth was created from the products of The Big Bang.

I believe in the big bang theory! God spoke and BANG! It happened.

Many scientists believe that the big bang started life. The big bang was a big explosion and the galaxies began.
Start from the Answers.com topic about big bang theory (in the link). I believe Simon Singh's book mentioned there is also nice.
