I'll use the example of a polar bear. In the arctic in the winter, the polar bear blends in with the snow and is camouflaged, which proves to be a protection to them from poachers flying overhead in airplanes. However, their black nose can give their location away. It seems as if the bears know this because they will sometimes cover their black nose with snow to keep from being spotted by the poachers.
