The answer to my own question (ha ha lol) is "The North Atlantic Drift".......
The Gulf Stream originates off the tip of Florida. It follows the eastern coatlines of the U,S.and Newfoundland before its northern extension, the North Atlantic Drift, moves towards Europe. It is a powerful and swift Atlantic Ocean current.
The jet stream
A continental jet-stream travels parallel to the equator - a polar jet-stream travels in a north/south direction.

When the jet stream moves south, it moves its associated weather front, which causes winds from the north.
It shifts northward as the seasons change, i.e., from about March through June (in both hemispheres)
