Download and boot from the Ultimate Boot CD available from http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Use a disk utility to erase the partition and Windows will do the rest when you install it.
thank you
pretty good windows xp boot disk
Create a dos boot disk. Make sure that it contains FORMAT and FDISK. If you have access to Windows 98 then you can create a boot disk.
For any disk OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU BOOT FROM, simply open a command prompt and type: format d: (where "d" is the designator of the disk that you want to format) OR open windows explorer, select "my computer" then right click on the drive you want to format (again, it can't be the disk you boot from" If you want to format your C drive you'll need to boot from some other medium, such as the installation disk or a floppy.
Windows 98 startup disk has some useful utilities and can be used to repair Windows 98 without any additional drives. A floppy which was created by format A s, just have loader, and couple system files to be able to boot MSDOS.
Simplified Answer:Diskpart and Format from command prompt. Disk Management from the shell.Original:Master Boot Record (MBR) I do not believe this is the utility. An MBR is only an initialization area created on a hard drive, which loads an OS boot program stored in the OS boot record. It also includes the partition table and list of all locations and descriptions. The utility used to partition and format a hard drive I believe is Disk Management. It will allow you to convert, format and create extended partitions and create logical drives.----------------------------Disk Management is correct. You can also use partitioning software such as PartitionMagic by Symantec
FORMAT A: /S or SYS A: Note: Are you a time-traveller from the 90s?
Did you format your hardrive? If you did than windows isn't on the machine anymore. You will have to install the OS again.
A Windows Boot Disk operates in DOS command line mode.
If your Windows operating system gets corrupted, you can start the computer using the boot disk and repair the damage.
It means that you are currently using a file or files on the hard drive you are trying to format. If you are trying to format your primary drive you will need to boot to a boot disk - not the C: drive. For most versions of windows you will will need to make the boot disk(s) (an option under My Computer) and boot to those disks rather than your hard drive.
Use a Boot up CD or Boot up Floppy to format the C: Drive and then install ur Operating System. to create a boot floppy go to control panel -- > add and remove prog -- > the last tab (creat boot disk)
My Computer, right click on floppy drive-> Format... In the next windows choose Create a MS-DOS startup disk
To create a simple volume disk using Windows PowerShell, first, you need to identify the disk you want to use by running the command Get-Disk. Once you have the disk number, use Initialize-Disk -Number <DiskNumber> to initialize it. Then, create a new partition with New-Partition -DiskNumber <DiskNumber> -UseMaximumSize -AssignDriveLetter. Finally, format the partition with Format-Volume -DriveLetter <DriveLetter> -FileSystem NTFS -Confirm:$false.
