The female cuddle fish finds a male, precisely large and colorful and brings him to a place to mate. Also a place where she feels safe to lay her eggs afterwords. He uses his arms to make the female face him and puts his arms over her beak and passes sacks of sperm to a place just below her mouth. After the female is done mating she will wait until her eggs are ready and will lay them. while that proses is taking its time the male is hovering above her and fighting off other males. A smaller may tuck his arms in to look like a female and pass right through the male to mate with the female right under the bigger male. After she is done mating with the smaller male she will lay her eggs safely on the side of a tucked in rock. Finally, the proses is done and she will leave her eggs to the world to survive on their own
