Dams produce electrical energy by utilizing the energy in the water stored in an elevated lake. Outlets in the dam allow water to escape down a pipe, trading potential energy for kinetic energy, ie, as it falls it moves faster. At the bottom of the dam, the fast moving stream of water enters a turbine where the it hits the blades of the turbine and makes it spin rapidly. The spinning turbine is connected to a generator, a rotating machine with magnets that converts the energy of rotation into electrical energy, usually AC. The AC voltage is run into a transformer to convert it to high voltage (higher voltage is better for long distances) and sent on towers to where it is needed.

How electrical energy help your country to progress?

In my opinion ,as a student i would lyk to help our country by conserving energy or electricity, so that our electricity will not be waste and can be used in a brighter future and a brighter day!!

Example of electrical energy to electromagnetic?

a microwave or a x-ray. Because when the microwave for example is plugged in or turned on is electrical energy and when the food is being cooked is when electromagnetic energy is used. Hope I Could Help :]

What is an electric motor used for?

An electric motor uses electrical energy to produce mechanical energy. The reverse process, that of using mechanical energy to produce electrical energy, is accomplished by a generator or dynamo. Traction motors used on locomotives and some electric and hybrid automobiles often perform both tasks if the vehicle is equipped with dynamic brakes. Electric motors are found in household appliances such as fans, refrigerators, washing machines, pool pumps, floor vacuums, and fan-forced ovens. They are also found in many other devices such as computer equipment, in its disk drives, printers, and fans; and in some sound and video playing and recording equipment as DVD/CD players and recorders, tape players and recorders, and record players. Electric motors are also found in several kinds of toys such as some kinds of vehicles and robotic toys.An electric motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through interacting magnetic field and current carrying conductors to generate force but a few use electrostatic forces.

What is the source of electricity in Philippines?

The Philippines' total consumption is dependent upon traditional hydrocarbon sources of energy. Oil consumption, at 53 percent, accounted for the majority of the Philippines' final energy consumption mix in 2005, followed by coal at 19 percent. Renewable energy sources comprised 15 percent of consumption, followed by natural gas and hydroelectric consumption at 7 percent and 6 percent, respectively. The updated Philippine Energy Plan of 2005, which is a major reform agenda of the Arroyo Administration, is designed to move towards energy independence by first attaining a level of 60 percent self-sufficiency by 2010. The plan indicates that between 2005 and 2014, the economy's final energy demand will grow at 4.7 percent per year. To help meet growth in demand, part of the strategy is to increase the country's oil and gas reserves by about 20 percent and to reduce coal imports by 20 percent. The development of biofuels, as mandated under the Biofuel Act of 2006, will also contribute to the energy mix needed to eventually meet the goal of self-sufficiency

Energy produced by moving water is what?

Energy produced by moving water is called hydroelectric energy. It is a renewable source of energy created by the flow of water through turbines in dams or rivers, which generates electricity. Hydroelectric power is a clean and sustainable energy source that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

How does renewable energy help the plant?

Renewable energy helps the planet because renewable energy doesnt waste our planets resources e.g. crude oil. Renewable energy will never run out so we can keep using it e.g. wind farms and hydroelectric dams

How does water help generate energy?

Water can help generate energy through hydropower, where the kinetic energy of flowing water is used to turn turbines that generate electricity. This can be achieved through dams or run-of-river systems. Water is a renewable and reliable source of energy that does not produce greenhouse gas emissions.

How does Canada help the us meets its energy needs?

Canada helps the United States meet its energy needs by Hydroelectric system.

How do rivers help in hydroelectric power?

River water builds up behind dams. It then runs through pipes in the dam wall and spins turbines, generating electricity.

Describe a scenario where energy is converted from one form to another?

In a hydroelectric power plant, the kinetic energy of flowing water is converted into electrical energy. The potential energy of the elevated water is transformed into mechanical energy as it spins turbines, which in turn drives generators to produce electricity.

What describes green energy?

Green energy refers to renewable energy sources that are environmentally friendly and sustainable, such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal power. These sources produce electricity with minimal impact on the environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help combat climate change.

What three technologies that can help reduce air pollution?

As energy is the main source of air pollution, pollution free sources of energy can help. Thus, solar, wind, and hydroelectric technologies can help.

When will hydroelectric energy run out?

When there is no longer enough water in the river behind the dam to turn the turbines. When the reservoir behind the dam silts up too much for the turbines to obtain water anymore. This eventually happens to all dams after several centuries. When drought comes to the country. When countries further up the river take the water for their own hydroelectric energy use, crop irrigation, or keep the water for their own people to drink.etc.
