The "common cold" found in dogs is called kennel cough, a highly contagious upper respiratory infection which is common among dogs in shelters and kennels, hence the name. Common symptoms include coughing, sneezing, hacking, wheezing, and a runny nose with green or yellow mucus sometimes seeping from the nose or crusting around the eyes. As previously mentioned, kennel cough is highly contagious, however, if the symptoms are noticed and antibiotics are administered early on, your dog will be happy and healthy again in about 2-3 weeks.
