Search and Rescue (SAR) dogs are trained to find missing people by scent. They may be asked to search for lost hikers, follow a lost child, or search collapsed buildings for survivors, such as the World Trade Center disaster. SAR dogs are trained differently from other tracking dogs. Police dogs are trained to follow the exact path of the person they are pursuing. This is important because evidence may be dropped as the person runs. SAR dogs are usually trained to air scent rather than track.
They search with their heads up to detect the scent of humans in the air, then follow that scent to its source. It is a somewhat less reliable form of scenting than "foot step tracking" done by police dogs, but when it works it finds the missing person faster. If the person has doubled back on themselves a few times, which lost people often do, the SAR dog can skip the extra loops of the track and go right to the person in a straight line. Typically SAR dogs are partnered with a single handler who is specially trained to guide the dog in the search and with whom the dog lives and forms a strong working relationship and bond.
Because when fire trucks were actually wagons they would run in front of the wagon in the town to warn the people to get out of the way of the wagon, so they were kind of like the sirens.
Yeah Dogs can Be heros, on GMA a guy taught his dog to dial 911(really it did happen) Dalmatians use to help Firemen but if you want flying dogs or something you'll have to wait for evolution where dogs are smarter and technogloy where they can use like jetpaks or hover boots...
Firemen, Policemen, Rescue dogs, anyone, really.
Dalmatians were originally bred as carriage dogs. They would run under or beside carriages and guard the horses/carriage from theives, vermin and other dogs. When the first "Fire Wagons" developed they were used to guard the wagons and keep people away from the firemen and wagon. Dalmatians were originally chosen for this job for their temperment and distinguishable coat.(Their coat stands out of the crowd) Even though "firedogs" aren't usually out on the front field, firemen use them as mascotts because of their colourful past.
Firemen look up to other firemen -FireFighter18
Firemen help to extinguish fires, rescue people in emergency situations such as car accidents or building collapses, and provide medical assistance when needed. They also play a role in educating the public about fire safety and prevention.

Dalmatians are great dogs that are very loyal. The Fire department used them along time ago to act as a siren when the water pumpers where heading to a call. The Dalmatian us to go out in the street and bark and warn people of a fire. Since then the Dalmatian has been used or welcomed by many fire houses as the dog of choice, though rarely ever used on the job anymore.
