It depends on how attached your dog is to you; if he is deeply attached, then he will remember you for a long time. If not, like if he just met you, he probably won't! I expect this varies greatly depending on the breed. Some breeds become very attached to their human pack or leader. Other breeds seem to do just fine moving on to another setting as long as they are fed and petted.
