Enzymes speed up chemical reactions by lowering the activation energy. The activation energy is the amount of energy needed to start a reaction and if this is lowered the reaction can occur more rapidly.

Enzyme actovators are molecules that bind to enzymes and increase their activity (or rate of action). When an activator molecule binds the corresponding enzyme, the enzyme works at a faster rate in converting the substrate into the product

Increasing temperature increases the rate of enzyme activity up to a point when it become too hot, when the enzyme is denatured and so activity stops.

Increasing temperature increases the rate because the substrate has more kinetic energy, so is more likely to collide with the enzyme for the reaction to take place.

Too much heat causes the bonds which hold the enzyme in its very specific shape to break, meaning it can no longer function (is denatured).

Time does not affect enzyme activity. Amount of enzymes, amount of reactions and factors like temperature and ph affect enzyme activity.

Can the presence of inhibitors or activitors affect enzyme activity?

yes, enzymes can be inhibited by other enzymes.

What can change the way an enzyme acts?

Enzyme activity is affected by other molecules, temperature, chemical environment (e.g., pH), and the concentration of substrate and enzyme. Activators are molecules that encourage enzyme activity, and inhibitors are enzymes that decrease enzyme activity. Sometimes a cofactor is necessary for the enzyme to work.

Are chemical mechanisms that start a reaction. Inhibitors Activators Centrioles Vacuoles?

You think probable to activators for enzymes.

What switchs on enzyme activity while what can switch off or reduce enzyme activity?

activators; inhibitors

What do activators and inhibitors help regulate?

enzyme activity within the metabolic pathways

What kinds of chemicals might you add to try to speed up the action of an enzyme or to inhibit its action?

The type of chemicals that speed up the action of an enzyme are called activators. Inhibitors, meanwhile, slow down the action of enzymes.

How does an enzyme affect equlibirium?

Enzymes do not affect the position of equilibrium. They speed up both the forward AND backward reactions.

What conditions affect the action of an enzyme?

If the enzymes are heated they can become deformed and not work as well.
