Hrbin in China is a delicacy feasted on by families on Chinese New Year.
It is a time for family and friends to renew bonds and celebrate the start of a new lunar year.
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is celebrated on the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar. At midnight on Chinese New Year's Eve, families traditionally light firecrackers and engage in other noisy activities to drive away evil spirits and welcome good luck for the coming year. It is also common for families to gather for a festive dinner before midnight and stay up late to ring in the new year together.
*homes yes we do! (I'm taiwanese, but I guess that counts as chinese) Well, at least, most families do. My family doesn't always cuz our house is usually quite clean and my parents are often too lazy. Most families do b/c this event is supposed to symbolize getting rid of bad (old) things (including luck or fortune) and creating a refreshed atmosphere.
I think it varies from country to country. But generally, the Chinese will visit their friends or relatives' house to celebrate Chinese New Year. Most of the time, they'll gather and have small talks, play some mahjong or cards and eat Chinese new year snacks at each other's house. Also, the elder and those who are married will give ang baos to the children and singles.
Well, they put fake Chinese decorative food across the front door of their house and wish their neighbors a Happy New Year!!!
Dumplings, fishes, noodles, meat. (maybe)
