In other words, if you changed the oil at 3,500 miles and reset the light at that time, the light will automatically come on at 7,000 miles as a reminder to change the oil. You can reset the light yourself in about 5 seconds. The "change oil light" doesn't run off of the quality/quantity of your oil. It runs off of a pre-determined distance from the last time the light was reset - presumably, the last time the oil was changed. For instance, if you change your oil at 3,500 miles, and the light is set to go off every 3,500 miles, then it will again go off at 7,000 miles, regardless of whether you re-changed the oil. Its just a reminder device. You can also reset the light yourself in about 5 seconds.
