They drink a lot of water, they get urinary tract infections (you recognize those by bloody urine, squeaking while peeing), sometimes they get eye cataracts. The only way to tell for sure is to take the guinea pig to an exotics vet (not the regular one) and have a blood test done.
There is nothing you as the owner really do wrong it can be genetic, sometimes it just happens. Unhealthy diets can attribute to the condition as well. A vet will diagnose a guinea pig with Diabetes and should give you proper care instructions. Usually it's a matter of a certain diet or in some cases shots of insulin are needed.
Yes they can, symptoms include loss of weight and drinking and peeing more. If your guinea pig has these symptoms you should take it to see the vet.
Yes, some may be diabetic,
Yes.
It sounds fair buying them from either, but it does depend on how well they treat the guinea pigs..
Ask a veterinarian what you can do.
You get a treat, then you tell it to do something and then help it out, and then you give it the treat!! ( This is true!)
Take your guinea pig to the vet if something seems wrong...
Guinea pigs can eat watermelon rinds and it is a awesome treat.
yes its a great treat!
yes, they can eat fruit and its a great treat.
Yes, it makes a very good treat! But be sure to feed in moderation, as your guinea can get sick.
They can do, but large amounts of it is not good for humans nor Guinea pigs. As a treat once in a while, this is ok but not much. They are supposed to have a diet low on sugar.
It is great to have two guinea pigs!!! They are extremely social animals. If they are alone for too long, they can become depressed and lonely.
