We all fear something even if we do not want to admit it. Fear can come from past experiences, something that is learned, and even something our minds are made to do. Fear is influenced by our peers and the people close to us. It is also a type of survival mechanism such as pain. Our bodies and minds tell us when something is wrong or when we feel vulnerable to being hurt our bodies tell us. There are many parts of fear and many ways fear is demonstrated but we all have it in order to survive.

Babies are not born to be scared they are taught by their parents or other people. They learn to be scared to certain things because it is taught. A baby is not born to know that a fire will hurt them but when they touch something hot they will feel pain. Once they know fire will hurt them they then know to "fear" the fire. Fear is not just something babies learn it is also something regular adults learn. In a recent study, a group of actors were shown a picture of a rose and acted as though they were scared it. When another person witnessed their reaction and the rose was shown to them, they mimicked the actor's reactions because someone else had done the same thing.

Fear is also very much connected or can be compared to pain. Fear and pain are both emotions, something that all humans have. Just as pain keeps us from physically hurting ourselves, fear keeps us from getting into hazardous situation. It is one of the many ways our body self consciously protects itself. Without these defense mechanisms we would have trouble keeping ourselves from harm's way. However, the difference between the two is that pain has its limits, but fear does not.

We become scared and fearful of the unknown. If a person is an environment where they are not comfortable or feel threatened they will become fearful. Just as in scary movies the person always has a feeling when the atmosphere is off or unsettling before something bad happens. It is the same in real life, for example when a person has stage freight they feel uncomfortable because they do not know what will happen. There are many different types of fears and we have all experienced at least one time in our life. Even animals experience fear but cope with it in different ways then humans. In humans, we may run away but in turtles they hide in their shell. Our reactions to fear are also very different depending on the person or animal. In the back of our brains we all have something called adrenaline and it is more active in some people as well as animals. It is what pushes us to do something or about to do something. Adrenaline is what feeds our fear.

Everyone is different and has different emotions but for some it is harder to control. Not everyone fears the same things and acts the same way towards it but we have to have it so we can live. Fear is something that is both given to us in our DNA and something that we learn from people since the beginning of time. There are common fears such as the fear of public speaking and even fear of roses but the bottom line is that there are many forms of it. Fear is almost equal if not the same as pain because it is also an emotion that everyone experiences. It is an instinct that cannot be learned but is simply something we have as humans. We are scared of things we know nothing about and fearful of the moments we are unsure of.
