Turna 3yo loose in you car and they will have it off in no time. or you can grasp it with one hand and squeeze it. Pops right out. Reinstall same way.
the cover does not come off, you must remove the entire light assembly and remove the bulb from the back side

The 1997 Chevy Cavalier dashboard is held in place with for retaining bolts and eight retaining clips. Remove the retaining bolts and pry outward on the retaining clips.
Open the trunk and remove the nuts holding the assembly in place. With nuts removed the tail light assembly will come out the back then you can remove the light socket to replace the bulb.
