there are 2 ways to do that. 1. you take off the + side of the batt and wait 30 secs that should turn it off for a little while. 2. if your check engine light is on that means you have a problom with your emissions. there is two sensers on your exhaust one of those might be bad or both of them are bad. or your catilactic converter is clogged . once you fix one of those probloms it should be fixed
