Changing a transmission is a fairly difficult job but really its not that bad, you can basically take one out with next to no tools...
First break the axle nut, lift vehicle and remove both C/V Joints
Then remove starter
drain trans pan
remove dust shield
remove 4 torque converter bolts
then remove the like 5-6(cant remember how many) bell housing bolts and that's it
you will find that the majority of the tools needed is basically a 18mm socket... but it doesnt hurt to have a 18mm wrench as well... ive tooken transmissions out and all i used was a breaker bar and 18mm socket because my ratchet broke... and i don't have a transmission jack... so i used 2 twist style jacks and a peice of plywood... so its not hard, just takes time
there is no such thing as transmission filter,u have to change the transmission fluid.
the transmission filter is internal so you would have to pull the transmission apart

how many quarts of transmission fliud does a 2005 nissan maxima takes

The Spirit is cheap because as they get older, and some miles on it, it wont cost the same as it was new... but Spirits r awesome vehicles with the 2.5L, A413 transmission... they last basically forever... so if you get a 92 Spirit with lets say around 200,000 miles... that engine could last you 400,000 if not more... depending on how well its being taken care of... so buying a 92 Spirit for like 6-700 dollars is well worth it... plus i think that they look good to :D
