If obedience was top on your list of requirements for a dog, a husky wasn't the best choice. They are well known for being stubborn and ignoring commands when they have something better to do.
That being said, you should still be able to get a certain level of obedience. The dog needs to learn to trust you first which will take some time. Start training everything from scratch, make sure you have lots of treats to use for rewards. Dedicate 20 minutes a day to training and work on one or two commands at a time.
If the dog ignores you, do not repeat yourself, do not treat the dog, just wait. Patience is usually key, reward quick responses well and the dog will soon learn to do things quickly to get what he/she wants.
huskies are very stubborn dogs, they have a very independent mind. In order to train a husky you have to be persistent and patient. Every time you give a husky a demand they consider if they want to obey or not. Also huskies need a lot of attention if they are left alone for too long they become destructive and upset. When training your husky remember to be firm in your commands, once they succeed in obeying you, reward them as in giving them a cookie, or petting them and remember to say good dog! :)
Is this a recent post? I can't find a date anywhere. I have a male Siberian Husky that is just a year old that we would like to breed. If this is current, please email tina.fontenot@gmail.com.
probably not unless he's energetic
I do. I adopted what i thought was a lab husky mix last year. She is beautiful. After being with her after a few days, I started to notice German Shepherd characteristics. So i thought she was a lab/GSD/Husky. But I just did a DNA test for her and it came back Boxer/GSD/Chow chow. I know chows are in the husky family but the boxer part was very surprising. Anyways. Shes a great dog, a great guard dog, and extremely sweet and friendly. Also very very agile and fast.
120000 children are adopted each year.
Huskies are very instinctive towards smaller animals than themselves and the tend to kill the prey they find. This relationship between the two animal is nearly impossible.
