1. disconnect the negative cable at the battery, place the cable out of the way so it cannot accidently come in contact with the negative terminal of the battery, as this would once again allow power into the electrical system of the vehicle. 2. Place the lock in the run position, remove the lock plate, remove the directional signal switch just far enough to slip it over the end of the shaft without pulling the harness out of the column. Remove the lock retainer screw and the lock cylinder. Note: Be very careful when removing the screw (use a magnet screwdriver, if available). If the retaining screw is dropped during removeable, it could fall into the steering column. The column would have to be completely disassembled to remove the screw. To reinstall: 4. Hold the lock cylinder in your hand and, with the key in, rotate the knob clockwise to the stop. Align the cylinder key with the keyway in the housing and push the lock cylinder all the way in. Install the lock retaining screw and tighten it securely. 5. Install the turn signal switch and the steering wheel.
