New inventions & new technologies can have both a positive & negative affect on society. As an example of a negative that has influenced all nations in the world, was the "discovery" and development of the atomic bomb and now the nuclear bomb. This had one useful impact in that it ended the war with Japan, in that an invasion of Japan would have cost thousands & thousands of more deaths both civilian and military deaths.

On the more positive side, new technologies have improved society in terms of new medicines and laser technologies to kill cancer cells. Generally speaking new technologies over time have been positives that have helped the efficiency of society. Any short term affects of new technologies such as job losses because robots can help build automobiles and thus the need for people to do the work has eliminated.

Generally speaking new technologies open up new job opportunities as workers retrain to find new employment opportunities.
