The traditional hopscotch is usually drawn with 9 squares. 1-3 would be single, followed by a double square numbered 4 and 5, then 6 would be a single square and 7 and 8 would be double square. First, the player would have to choose something in which he would like to throw with (most of the time it'll be a wallet). All the players would start with the number 1 square, so they'll put their wallet in the number1 square. Then the player will take turns hopping on 1 foot on all the unoccupied squares in sequence, retrieve his wallet and go to the starting point. (if he step on the lines of the box or step outside the box, then he loses that turn). Then once he reached the starting point, then he'll throw his wallet into the 2nd box. And this continues until a person reach the 9th square.
Kids in Singapore play hopscotch similar to how it is played in other countries. It is still very popular there and is played quite frequently on school grounds. They typically play in groups of 4-5 players.
