The leeches' body is, "dorso-ventrally flattened". Meaning they are flat from top to bottom. Leeches are able to change their appearance from long, snakelike bodies to short, squat and contracted in an instant. This is one of their primary defensive reactions. Leeches swim with their bodies extended. The rear of the body is wider and flatter than the front. This paddle like appearance makes the leech a competent swimmer.
Leeches have two ways of moving around.
1- They will swivel their flat bodies while in the water to propel forward. It almost looks like their whole body is doing the wave.
2- They will outstretch their front sucker on a rock, while the end sucker clings on to the other side.
The front sucker will cling on to the rock and the leech will be stretched out fully. The end will release its self, and inch forward, and will repeat to get around.
Method 1
The easiest way you can get a leech off of your skin is to use a knife and slide it underneath the leech and flick it away. Pocket knives and butter knives work best for this, obviously a steak or butcher knife isn't a good choice. You will probably end up bleeding, but regardless, make sure you wash the wound out and put a bandage over it to avoid infection. Method 2 Don't use salt, heat, flames, or other "natural remedies" to get leeches off. These actually increase the risk of infection because it makes the leech vomit into the wound. This is the last thing that you want. Typically, a leech sucks the blood out and little of its own "material" gets into your body. The last thing you want is to reverse this procedure.
Method 3 If you don't feel like scraping the leech off then you can wait a while and the leech will fall off on its own for digestion. I wouldn't recommend this as it is highly disgusting walking around with leeches, but it is a decent method
leeches stick themselves to anials or humans and suck out blood. to get them out you dump salt on them.
Unlike most of the hermaphodites the leeches do not use the same hole to eat and excrete out of. Once food is digested it comes out of the anus, located in the rear end on the body. POO
they exert all contents of the abdomen into a nearby body of water, therefore eliminating the need to produce feces. !
