Their only natural predator is the killer whale. According to some studies, over 80% of the leopard seals caught by killer whales are pups. Adult seals will avoid them by swiftly changing direction, grouping, or leaving the water.
Leopard seals are one of the least likely of arctic wildlife to be in danger of extinction due to their position in the food chain; with a lack of natural predators and abundance of food sources.
