When do you use string in an orchestra?

The orchestra's string choir carries the melody and basic harmony most of the time. The broad, shimmering sound - somewhat tonally nondescript - is a perfect sound as a steady diet for the ear. The more unique a sound is, the quicker the ear tires of it, hence 24 strings, but only two oboes.

Do you blow into a woodwind instrument?

You blow into the reed to make a sound...whether it's beautiful or not depends on how you blow. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- yes...apparently 'beautiful' would range from the sound a duck makes going into a meat grinder, and an angel's voice. oboes are...interesting. OBOES RULE THE WORLD, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW IT YET!!! -Myrl-

Do unique and square have a long U vowel sound?

No, only "unique" has the long U at the start. (yoo-neek) In unique, the U has a long U sound, the I has a lone E sound. (QUE has a K sound) The U in "square" pairs with the Q to make a KW sound, then the A is a caret A (long A + R = air). The E is silent.

What is a woodwind?

A woodwind instrument is one which uses air to make a noise, but does not have a keyboard or uses lips to make a sound. They may have a reed or mouthpiece. Woodwinds are instruments such as clarinets, oboes, recorders and flutes, so trumpets and organs, for example, are not woodwind.

What is the oboe made from?

mainly turtle I'm going to leave the answer above because I think it's hilarious. Oboes are either made of Grenadilla wood (and African blackwood) or Plastic. Plastic is much cheaper but as you could probably guess the Grenadilla oboes have a much better sound.

About the Oboe?

Oboes are a double reed, woodwind instrument. It requires lots of air, and is very hard to tune. At first you will sound like a duck, but once you keep practicing you should get better into a more beautiful sound.
