They are good if you like loud music.
You can get them at many places, even at a store like Walgreens. Large music stores have huge selections and some of the highest quality headphones like Skullcandy headphones.
If you like a lot of bass then you should buy them although they cost around $20.
I did not find the subwoofer at all annoying, in fact I like my headphones better with the subwoofer and if you don't like a ton of bass you can actually change the amount up or down. And they come with Skullcandy's lifetime warranty
There isn't one model used by every studio, but most use AKG, Fostex, Sony or Audio-Technica headphones. Headphones like those from SkullCandy, Pioneer and Monster aren't found in studios.
I use skullcandy headphones and the sound quality is good for the price. However, the cheaper models like ink'd break easily but at least they offer lifetime warranties on all their products so they will replace them if they do break. The higher end products ($40 or up) are a lot harder to destroy.
I really like Skullcandy earbuds, but that's personal preference. I really like how comfortable they are, and the music quality is pretty awesome too.
Ok I am from Utah and I have a friend who works with Skullcandy on almost a daily basis. I bought a pair without really researching how much other headphones of the same quality were. They were destroyed (not their fault though)and I thought about getting another pair. I started looking at the specifics of the headphones and realized that you could get the same setup at Walmart for $17 minus the Skullcandy logo which is what you are really paying for. If you want the image you will pay for it. But I found better quality for less. The good thing about Skullcandy though is their warranty. Like I said, mine got ruined, and it took a while but they sent me a brand new, upgraded, pair which I am listening to right now. Not bad business but if I had to do it all again I probably would have just got similar headphones without paying for the brand name.
You can find Skull Candy headphones anywhere from airports to your local Radio Shack...However the cheapest you could find would probably be on Ebay. At Radio Shack they are probably around 50$ but on Ebay more like 20$.
Studio goes over the ear and solo's are an on ear head phone. If I were you get the studio, they cost much more, cover the ear, but the solo headphones sound the same as skullcandy hesh, and cost 130$ hesh cost 50$. the studio look better sound better and you can return them if you don't like them. If you get the solos you should be ashamed because the skullcandy hesh sound identical. The studio versions are meant to be worn comfortably longer and offer a wider and more clearer range of music frequency.
AKG Audio Technica Sony Beyerdynamic These are all good brands for headphones. They produce a very true professional sound and do no falsely enhance frequencies like other headphones such as beats by dre (these are good for entertainment) which auto boosts bass frequencies. Skullcandy isn't bad either but more for a consumer just needing headphones to listen to music.
